What is Dimpleplasty, and who needs it?

A dimple is the result of a small adhesion of the skin to the facial muscle. Dimple chin is also referred to as ‘cleft chin.’ The underlying jaw structure forms a connection with the chin, which results in a dimpled chin. Chin dimples are less popular among women but regarded as a feature that is more attractive among men.

Surgical Method For Dimple Creation

Dimpleplasty is a dimple creation surgery that adds dimples to the individual’s face. The procedure is done after giving local anaesthesia. The surgeon first marks the dimple area, then a small incision is made inside the mouth to avoid any scarring externally. During the procedure, an absorbable suture is used to pin the surface of the skin to the underlying muscles, resulting in a gentle depression on the skin.

Dimpleplasty Procedure Time

It is a relatively painless and quick procedure that does not takes approximately 30 minutes. Dimpleplasty does not require any hospitalization and individuals can retuen home after the procedure.

Recovery after Dimple Creation

Initially, the dimple will be present on cheeks even without smiling. However, it will look more natural as the suture dissolves and the skin softens over time. Generally, recovery from the procedure takes about two weeks. Even though it is not common, the dimple may vanish from after complete recovery and these minority group of individuals will requiring another small procedure to enhance the depression of the dimple.
