Types Of Skin Booster Treatments
Skin booster treatments are considered to be more effective than dermal fillers when used for enhancing skin quality. Different types of skin boosters are available. However, the common thing about these boosters is that they are usually composed of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is an important component in the extracellular matrix of the body, which helps maintain and regenerate the collagen content in the body. Profhilo
Profhilo is a relatively newer injectable treatment that helps rejuvenate the skin fibres. It is composed mainly of BDDE-free hyaluronic acid [1]. Profhilo differs largely from dermal fillers as it is not quantitative: it helps improve skin quality by regenerating skin elastin fibres. Profhilo improves the appearance of skin wrinkles and sagging by bio-remodelling. This process includes regeneration of the elastin fibres of the skin, which gives the skin the tightening effect. This tightening helps smoothen some of the unwanted skin wrinkles, whilst also giving the skin its natural inner glow. This results in a smoother and more radiant complexion.
Currently, the Profhilo skin treatment is limited to the lower face only. This is usable for both genders, ages 30 and up. The procedure involves 2 treatments with a gap of 1 month in which the serum is injected into the skin.
Restylane Vital
Restylane vital, also known as a vital skin booster, is a tested and relatively older skin booster available in the market. This skin booster consists of cross-linked hyaluronic acid that is injected into the skin through a micro-puncture technique deep into the dermis [2]. Restylane vital relies mainly on the cross-linking of the hyaluronic acid and the extent of cross-linkage determines the longevity of the treatment.
This treatment mainly restores the plumpness of the skin because the cross-linked hyaluronic acid rapidly absorbs the moisture deep in the skin. This not only results in youthful skin but also maintains effective hydration. It can be used in many areas, such as the face, neck, and decolletage (the area between the neck and breasts). Restylane vital is administered once a month for every three months. The subsequent treatment involves one procedure every 6 months.
Rejuran Healer
Rejuran healer is particularly different because it is mainly composed of polynucleotides (PN) skin booster. Rejuran healer revitalizes the skin by promoting the growth of fibroblasts, which help regenerate the vital skin collagen reserves. It also slows down the aging of the skin by creating an effective barrier between the skin and harmful environmental factors (such as free radicals and sun rays) that degrade the natural collagen fibres in the skin. A clinical study conducted by Korean dermatologists [3] showed that Rejuran healer improves skin hydration by almost 15 percent, which when combined with increased collagen fibre generation maintains the natural plumpness of the skin, keeping and wrinkle-free and radiant.
This skin booster is suitable for aging skin that shows visible signs of dehydration and rough texture. It is also used to tone down the acne scars that stain the skin. Contrary to Profhilo treatment, Rejuran healers can be used all over the face. Like Restylane vital, it is used once a month for 3 months, after which it is administered once after 6 months.
Juvéderm Volite
Juvederm Volite is a while back in the category of skin boosters. Just like Restylane, Juvederm contains cross-linked hyaluronic acid that helps the skin regain its elasticity [4]. The cross-linking technology of Juvederm is based on VYcross technology from Allergan. It is injected into the central layers of the dermis to nourish the skin from its deepest layer to the external ones. Juvederm is also more potent than Restylane, as one session of this treatment is enough to maintain the skin elasticity for up to nine months. Moreover, Juvederm also has a lesser downtime as compared to other skin boosters.
Juvederm Volite has a broad coverage: it is suitable for all skin types of all ages. Two syringes of Juvederm are injected per treatment procedure. Like Rejuran healers, this treatment is also suitable for the whole face. The Juvederm procedure can be carried out once annually.
Teosyal Redensity
Teosyal Redensity is a different type of skin booster. Apart from the traditional hyaluronic acid found in skin boosters, it also consists of vitamins, vital amino acids, and minerals which not only help the skin regenerate the skin fibres but also help nourish it keeping it fresh and healthy. As clear from its name, it densifies the skin, thereby restoring its luminosity and helping it regain its texture and get rid of unwanted darkened areas. The treatment procedure involves micro-injection of the serum in such a way that the dermo-restructuring complex spreads itself evenly beneath the skin.
Teosyal Redensity is suitable for use over the whole face or any other area of concern. Moreover, this treatment is also suitable for all ages having dull-textured, tired skin having a loss of its natural radiance and contours. Teosyal Redensity is administered through 3 injections having an interval of three weeks.
How Often Should You Have Skin Boosting Treatments?
Skin booster treatments usually require 3 sessions to elicit the best possible results. The specific treatment regimens differ by individual skin booster types, however, second and third sessions are done one or six months apart respectively. The skin booster treatment results are usually viable for around six months to a year.
How Is The Treatment Performed?
The administration of skin boosters is relatively simple and does not require major surgeries. Typically, the procedure is done by applying a cream to numb the skin over the area of concern followed by manual injection of the skin booster.
